Florence, Italy Portfolio
Florence, Italy
This body of work explores the relationships between forms and emotions that I have discovered during my time in Florence, Italy. It also discusses my influences as well as the people that I encountered.
I take inspiration from Edward Weston and Henri Cartier Bresson by coupling Weston’s formal photographs with Bresson’s illustration of people. I also use light as a sort of narrator in my work to convey a certain feeling. I paired people with forms to talk about the characteristics of Italian culture that I experienced as well as my influences from classical art of the Renaissance. Those devices are also used to talk about the tourist culture that surrounds a city like Florence and the clashing of classical art with contemporary art.
